Jatin Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and IAS officer, has initiated stringent measures to free Sherghati town in Gaya district from persistent traffic jams and to streamline its traffic management. On Saturday evening, he personally inspected the traffic congestion near Thana More on Cherki Road and issued immediate directives to the concerned officials. Following numerous complaints from local residents, Sherghati Police Station has been tasked with regular monitoring of traffic situations.

The SDO has explicitly stated that all buses must halt only at the designated bus stand. He also warned that starting Sunday, strict action will be taken against illegal parking of buses, tempos, and e-rickshaws on both lanes of the Grand Trunk (GT) Road, as well as against those picking up passengers along the roadside. Vehicle owners violating these instructions will face hefty fines.

To control the increasing movement of heavy vehicles on Cherki Road, barricading will be implemented. Heavy vehicle movement will be restricted from 8 AM to 8 PM. Local residents informed the SDO that since the activation of the toll plaza on Dobhi Road, heavy vehicles have been using Cherki Road to avoid paying tolls, exacerbating the traffic problem. SDO has instructed SI Imtiaz to conduct special monitoring to manage the daily jams near Thana More.

The no-parking campaign will continue as before, and initiatives will also be launched to remove encroachments. Shopkeepers placing goods on the road outside their shops will face action and fines. The Nagar Parishad has been directed to take necessary steps for the construction of a roundabout near Teenmuhan on Gola Bazar Road to improve traffic flow.
