Sitamarhi: In a significant operation against drug trafficking, a joint team of police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 202.6 kilograms of ganja near the India-Nepal border in Sitamarhi. The estimated value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹1 crore 1 lakh 30 thousand. A Nepali national was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Superintendent of Police Amit Ranjan stated that the Sonbarsa police station received intelligence about a large consignment of ganja arriving in the area. Acting on this tip-off, the police and SSB teams initiated surveillance of suspicious activities. During the operation, a suspect was apprehended with the entire consignment of ganja.

The arrested individual has been identified as Rahul Yadav, a resident of Ward No. 10, Malangwa Police Station area, Sarlahi district, Nepal. Police have confiscated the ganja and registered a case against the accused, initiating further investigation.

Investigating agencies are now working to ascertain the origin of such a large quantity of ganja and its intended destination. Efforts are also underway to identify other individuals involved in this trafficking network. SP Amit Ranjan reiterated that continuous campaigns are being conducted against ganja smuggling in the district, with special vigilance maintained in areas along the India-Nepal border. He assured that no individual linked to the trafficking network would be spared, and stringent action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
