A mock drill was conducted at the Bank of India branch in Sitamarhi city on Tuesday, causing a stir when its siren suddenly blared. The alarm, however, was not indicative of a real incident but part of a planned exercise by the police. Following the siren, the police department immediately went into alert mode. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (DSP) Subodh Kumar personally arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

The purpose of the mock drill was to evaluate the police's preparedness and response time in dealing with emergency situations like bank robberies. As soon as the bank alarm sounded, the police control room was informed. Subsequently, various police stations in the city were put on high alert, and procedures to seal all routes leading to the bank were initiated. Police personnel swiftly surrounded the bank premises.

DSP Subodh Kumar stated that the exercise tested police deployment, communication systems, and emergency response mechanisms. He emphasized that such mock drills would be conducted regularly to ensure police personnel are always ready to face any challenge. Although there was a brief moment of panic in the city, people breathed a sigh of relief once it was confirmed to be an exercise. The police administration appealed to the public to take such drills seriously and cooperate with the police in emergencies. This mock drill aimed to ensure a swift and effective police response during critical situations.
