In a significant operation, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 135 liters of Nepali liquor at the India-Nepal border in Sitamarhi district. The incident occurred near Bhittamore in the Surasand police station area, where the SSB's 51st Battalion also arrested a liquor smuggler. The seized liquor, comprising various brands, was being transported in plastic bottles and pouches.

Acting on a tip-off about large-scale liquor smuggling from Nepal, the SSB 51st Battalion intensified its surveillance in the Bhittamore border area. Late Tuesday night, while the smuggler was attempting to cross into Indian territory with the liquor on a motorcycle, he was apprehended by the security personnel. A search revealed 135 liters of Nepali liquor loaded on the bike.

The arrested smuggler, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, is reportedly a resident of the border region. The SSB has confiscated both the liquor and the motorcycle used in the smuggling. The seized items and the arrested individual have been handed over to the local Surasand police station for further legal proceedings. Police are now investigating the matter to identify other individuals involved in this smuggling ring. Liquor smuggling remains a persistent issue along the India-Nepal border, and the SSB continues its efforts to curb such activities, demonstrating the vigilance of border security forces.
