सीतामढ़ी जिले के परिहार प्रखंड स्थित प्रमुख कार्यालय में शनिवार शाम दो नाबालिग बच्चों ने पेट्रोल छिड़ककर आग लगाने का प्रयास किया। इन बच्चों की उम्र आठ और दस वर्ष बताई जा रही है। प्रखंड कार्यालय में मौजूद कर्मियों की सतर्कता के कारण यह प्रयास सफल नहीं हो सका और समय रहते आग पर काबू पा लिया गया। दोनों बच्चों को मौके से पकड़कर पुलिस के हवाले कर दिया गया है।
घटना के संबंध में बताया गया कि दोनों बच्चे अपने साथ प्लास्टिक की बोतल में करीब आधा लीटर पेट्रोल, एक प्लास्टिक का ग्लास और माचिस लेकर आए थे। उन्होंने प्रमुख कार्यालय के बरामदे में पेट्रोल छिड़ककर फर्श पर आग लगा दी और फिर बंद दरवाजे के नीचे से आग को कार्यालय के अंदर धकेलने की कोशिश करने लगे। इसी दौरान प्रखंड कार्यालय में उपस्थित कर्मियों की नजर उन पर पड़ी, जिन्होंने तत्काल पहुंचकर आग बुझाई और भागने की कोशिश कर रहे दोनों बच्चों को पकड़ लिया।
पुलिस ने मामले की गंभीरता को देखते हुए जांच शुरू कर दी है। प्रमुख कक्ष का दरवाजा खोलने पर अंदर से भी पेट्रोल की गंध आ रही थी, जिससे यह संकेत मिलता है कि आग लगाने का प्रयास काफी गंभीर था। बीडीओ ओम प्रकाश यादव ने इस घटना को बेहद गंभीर बताया है और कहा है कि बच्चों की कम उम्र को देखते हुए यह विश्वास करना मुश्किल है कि उन्होंने यह काम स्वयं किया होगा। उन्होंने आशंका जताई है कि किसी शातिर व्यक्ति ने बच्चों को बहला-फुसलाकर इस कृत्य के लिए भेजा होगा। पुलिस दोनों बच्चों से पूछताछ कर रही है ताकि घटना के पीछे के वास्तविक कारणों और व्यक्तियों का पता लगाया जा सके।
Two minor boys, aged eight and ten, attempted to set fire to the Pramukh (Block Chief) office in Parihar Block, Sitamarhi district, on Saturday evening. The attempt was foiled due to the vigilance of staff present at the Block office, who swiftly brought the fire under control. Both children were apprehended at the scene and handed over to the police.
According to reports, the boys were carrying about half a liter of petrol in a plastic bottle, a plastic glass, and matches. They allegedly sprinkled petrol on the verandah floor of the Pramukh office and set it alight, then tried to push the fire inside the closed office through the gap under the door. Block office employees noticed their suspicious activity, intervened immediately, extinguished the fire, and caught the children as they tried to flee.
Police have launched a serious investigation into the incident. The strong smell of petrol inside the Pramukh's chamber indicates the gravity of the arson attempt. BDO Om Prakash Yadav described the matter as extremely serious, expressing disbelief that children of such a young age could have acted independently. He suspects that a cunning individual might have instigated and sent the children to carry out the act. The police are currently interrogating the minors to uncover the true motives and individuals behind this incident.
