A large farmers' mahapanchayat will be organized in Reega, Sitamarhi district, Bihar, on August 16. This gathering will extensively discuss crucial issues related to sugarcane farmers. The Joint Kisan Sangharsh Morcha, which is organizing the event, will primarily demand that the support price for sugarcane be declared at Rs 750 per quintal.

Additionally, demands will be raised for the prompt payment of pending dues to sugarcane farmers, including interest, the speedy settlement of outstanding amounts, and the resolution of other pending issues affecting farmers. The demands of the Joint Kisan Sangharsh Morcha also include the withdrawal of the Satellite Sitapuram project, as they believe its impact on farmers should be re-evaluated, and farmers' interests prioritized.

During the mahapanchayat, a demand will also be made to provide relief to farmers entangled in alleged 'KC' cases related to the Reega sugar mill. Extensive discussions will also take place on strengthening irrigation systems by ensuring adequate irrigation water in canals, water sources, and fields. Given the natural disasters and the current agricultural situation, the Joint Kisan Sangharsh Morcha will include a demand to declare Sitamarhi district as a drought-affected area in the mahapanchayat's resolution.

According to the Morcha leaders, the resolution passed in the mahapanchayat will be sent to the state government. The chief guest of this mahapanchayat will be farmer leader, MP, and former Agriculture Minister Sudhakar Singh, who will share his views on farmers' problems, challenges in the sugarcane industry, and the future strategy of the farmers' movement.
