Sitamarhi/Riga. Acting on intelligence from the Bihar STF, Sitamarhi police have carried out a major operation against illegal drug trafficking. A police team raided a house in Sangram Fandah village, under the Riga police station area, and seized 334 kg of ganja (cannabis) valued at Rs 1.67 crore. The homeowner, Jai Narayan Mahto, was arrested, while his son, Roshan Kumar, managed to evade capture. Police are now investigating the origin of this multi-crore consignment and its intended distribution.

ASP-cum-SDPO Sadar Ashish Anand disclosed details of the case at a press conference on Wednesday. He stated that the STF had received information that Jai Narayan Mahto and his son Roshan Kumar were storing illegal narcotics at their home in Sangram Fandah village. After verifying the information, a police team raided the house. During the search, a large quantity of ganja, packed in 42 plastic bundles, was recovered.

According to the police, based on the STF's tip-off, the team surrounded the house and began their search. Initially, four bundles of ganja were found in a car parked outside the house. Subsequently, further searches inside the house led to the discovery of more hidden bundles. Upon inspection, all bundles were confirmed to contain ganja. The total weight was recorded as 334 kg 205 grams. Jai Narayan Mahto was arrested on the spot, and an FIR has been filed against both Roshan Kumar and his father, Jai Narayan Mahto. Roshan Kumar had fled before the police arrived, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
