A tragic incident occurred in Parsa village, Sursand police station area of Sitamarhi district, where a 9-year-old boy, Dinanath Kumar, drowned in a pond on Saturday. The incident took place around 11 AM when Dinanath went to bathe with four-five friends in the village's Madanji Pond. While bathing, he slipped and fell into the deep water.

Upon seeing Dinanath drowning, his friends started shouting for help. Hearing their cries, a villager passing by immediately jumped into the pond and pulled the child out. He was rushed to a local doctor, but after examination, the doctor declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as Dinanath Kumar, son of Indrajeet Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 8, Parsa village. The family is in deep shock and mourning since the incident.

Local head (Mukhiya) Rajesh Kumar alias Mantoo informed Station House Officer Lal Kishore Gupta and Circle Officer Satish Kumar about the incident. Upon receiving the information, Additional Station House Officer Mukesh Kumar Singh, Sub-Inspectors Vinod Kumar and Motiur Rehman, along with police personnel, reached the spot. The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination to the Sadar Hospital. A UD case has been registered based on the statement of the deceased's father, Indrajeet Kumar, and the police are investigating further. The Circle Officer stated that after the post-mortem report, a grant of four lakh rupees will be provided to the dependents of the deceased child through disaster management.
