Police in Runnisaidpur, Sitamarhi, have arrested two criminals with country-made pistols and cartridges. The duo was allegedly planning to rob passersby of their motorcycles and cash.

Runnisaidpur police received a tip-off during a patrol on Tuesday night that two suspicious youths were lurking near a culvert on the Thumma-Belahi road, intending to commit a crime. A police team, led by Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kumar, promptly reached the spot. Upon seeing the police vehicle, the criminals attempted to flee but were apprehended after a chase.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Saurabh Kumar, son of Vinod Kumar Singh, and Chandan Kumar, son of Biran Singh, both residents of Baradih village. Police recovered one country-made pistol and one cartridge from each of them.

During interrogation, Chandan confessed that he had purchased the weapons from Nepal after being released from jail. Both had arrived at the location by auto on Tuesday evening, plotting to snatch motorcycles and money from pedestrians. However, the police managed to nab them before they could execute their plan. The Runnisaidpur police station already has two cases registered against both criminals. A new FIR has been filed against them following this arrest, and they have been sent to judicial custody.
