Questions have been raised about the functioning of Bhuthi Police Station in Sitamarhi district after a youth accused a sub-inspector of assault within the police station premises. Mani Bhushan Kumar, a resident of Matiyar Khurd village, alleges that Sub-Inspector Vivek Kumar slapped him 4-5 times and threatened him when he went to the station to inquire about an alleged assault on his aunt and uncle.

According to the youth, the incident occurred when he arrived at the station to get information regarding an incident on the evening of September 21. In an application submitted to SP Amit Ranjan, Mani Bhushan stated that on September 21, around 5 PM, Sub-Inspector Vivek Kumar, along with other police personnel, arrived at his aunt Sanjira Khatoon's house. It is alleged that the police personnel entered the house, shoved, and assaulted his aunt and uncle, then asked them to come to the police station. Mani Bhushan had gone to Bhuthi Police Station with villagers to get information about this incident, where he was allegedly assaulted.

SP Amit Ranjan has taken serious note of the matter and has assigned the investigation to DSP Headquarters Mohd. Najeeb Anwar. SP Ranjan stated that an application has been received from the complainant, and if the police personnel are found guilty during the investigation, strict action will be taken against them as per rules. This incident has sparked a debate on public trust in the police and the respectful treatment of complainants at police stations.
