New traffic rules were implemented in Barharia market, Siwan district, from Saturday, to address the long-standing problem of traffic congestion. Under the new regulations, vehicles heading towards Gopalganj and Barauli from Tarwara and Jamo sides must now pass through the main market via Thana Chowk. However, on the very first day of implementation, the market experienced severe traffic jams, causing significant inconvenience to commuters and shopkeepers.

Around 4:30 PM on Saturday, a long queue of vehicles formed between Jamo Chowk and Thana Chowk. Traffic movement was completely disrupted for some time as vehicles got stuck on both sides of the road. Pedestrians and shopkeepers also faced considerable difficulties due to the congestion.

Upon receiving information about the jam, police personnel promptly arrived at the scene. They worked strenuously to clear the congestion, allowing vehicles to move one by one, eventually restoring normal traffic flow.

Local residents state that traffic congestion has been a persistent issue in Barharia market. During peak hours, long queues of vehicles are a common sight. Locals believe that merely changing the route will not provide a permanent solution to the problem. They emphasize the need for strict enforcement of traffic rules, removal of encroachments from roadsides, and regular monitoring of vehicles to effectively manage traffic.
