Another significant fraud has been exposed in Bihar under the 'Medal Lao, Naukri Pao' (Bring a Medal, Get a Job) scheme. Prakash Kumar Singh, a dragon boat player, allegedly concealed his criminal record to secure the position of Police Sub-Inspector. Ravindran Shankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority, took notice of the deception and wrote to Bihar's Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, on Wednesday. The letter requests strict action against the accused sub-inspector for hiding facts and gaining undue advantage.

Prakash Kumar Singh applied under the recruitment advertisement issued on May 22, 2023, based on his sports achievements in dragon boat competitions. Following a recommendation from the General Administration Department on December 14, 2023, he was appointed as a Sub-Inspector under the Home Department. He is currently posted at Karai Parsurai police station in Nalanda district.

During the scrutiny of documents by the Sports Authority, it was discovered that Prakash had hidden his criminal past when applying. The investigation revealed that he was imprisoned for 75 days, from July 31, 2022, to October 14, 2022, in Muzaffarpur's Shaheed Khudiram Bose Central Jail in connection with an FIR. He deliberately omitted this crucial information from his application form.

This is the second such case of fraud under the 'Medal Lao, Naukri Pao' scheme. Previously, Sudhanshu Kumar, a Lower Division Clerk at the Nalanda Collectorate, was suspended. He had claimed to have participated in the Junior National Rugby Championship held at Patliputra Sports Complex in 2022, but it was later found that another player named Golden Kumar had played in his place. Sudhanshu Kumar was also suspended based on the recommendation of the Bihar State Sports Authority.
