Residents of Supaul city can soon expect relief from the hassles of booking and waiting for cooking gas cylinder deliveries. Work has commenced on a project to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in the Supaul Nagar Parishad area. On Thursday, District Magistrate Sawan Kumar officially launched the project to deliver natural gas directly to homes via pipelines. The company aims to begin gas supply within the next three months.

In the initial phase, approximately 500 households are targeted to receive PNG connections, and the registration process has already started. This PNG project involves laying pipelines to bring natural gas directly to household kitchens, eliminating the need for consumers to order and transport gas cylinders. This initiative will provide a new and convenient option for cooking gas supply in the city.

According to company representatives, after the first phase, gas supply will be expanded to other areas of the Nagar Parishad based on demand and project progress. DM Sawan Kumar stated that the introduction of PNG service could lead to savings of about 20 percent on gas expenses for consumers, though actual savings will depend on gas rates, consumption, and connection fees.

During the launch event, the DM formally initiated the registration process for PNG connections. The program was attended by Nagar Parishad President Raghavendra Kumar Jha, Senior Deputy Collector Vikas Kumar Karna, District Supply Officer Rajiv Kumar, Bihar State Food Corporation District Manager Rambabu, and officials from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The project was inaugurated with coconut breaking and tree planting.

The company's goal is to start supplying PNG to consumers within the next three months. Detailed information regarding the connection process, fees, and supply start date will be made available to consumers by the company soon.
