Sursand: 44 Health Centers Shut Down Amid ANM Strike
In Sursand block, Sitamarhi, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) continued their indefinite strike for the third consecutive day on Monday, pressing for their nine-point demands. The peaceful protest is ongoing at the Community Health Center (CHC) premises. The ANMs have stated that their agitation will continue until their demands are met. As a result of the strike, medical services at 40 sub-health centers and four additional primary health centers in the block, excluding the CHC, have been completely disrupted for the past three days.
CHC in-charge Dr. Ramkishore Singh has refuted the allegations made by the ANMs, sending letters to the DM, Civil Surgeon, and media. He clarified that a committee has been formed to investigate the allocation of Rs 6.94 lakh from the Ayushman Bharat fund and the alleged embezzlement. This committee has been instructed to distribute incentive amounts among doctors and paramedical staff and submit a payment report within 15 days.
Dr. Singh also provided an update on the transfer of head clerk Amit Bharti, who was previously moved to Bokhra. However, he has been directed to continue working at Sursand CHC until an order is issued regarding a petition filed in the High Court. Dr. Singh has requested the collective transfer of all doctors and some ANMs posted at the CHC with him, and has also called for a high-level inquiry committee to conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations.
