A tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Sahebganj Nagar Parishad area of Muzaffarpur, where three teenagers drowned while bathing in the Baya River. A fourth teenager, who was with them, managed to swim to safety.

The incident took place in the Baya River in front of the Baidyanathpur Shivalay Temple. The deceased have been identified as Amrit Kumar (14), Sahil alias Jhunnu (12), and Mohammad Rehan (13), all residents of Ward No. 8. Gooddu (13) successfully swam out of the river. According to information, the four teenagers had gone to bathe in the Baya River on Saturday afternoon when they ventured into deep water.

Upon receiving news of the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the scene. Local residents conducted a continuous search in the river for about two to three hours. After considerable effort, the bodies of the three teenagers were recovered. They were taken to the Sahebganj Community Health Center (CHC), where doctors declared them dead.

Local residents alleged that despite informing the NDRF, the team arrived very late, forcing locals to conduct the search for the bodies themselves. Sahebganj Station House Officer Sunil Kumar, along with police forces, arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the incident and assessed the situation. The accident has cast a pall of gloom over Ward No. 8 of Sahebganj Nagar Parishad. Police have initiated the necessary legal procedures and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
