Most people traveling on the Ganga River are devotees who come to the ghat for worship or other religious rituals. Ensuring the safety of these passengers is the primary responsibility of the local administration and boat operators. However, the current situation is quite the opposite. Boat operators, in their greed for more earnings, overcrowd the boats to such an extent that there is always a risk of losing balance. Moreover, the absence of essential safety equipment like life jackets makes the situation even more dire.

According to safety regulations, every boat should have life jackets commensurate with its capacity, and it should be ensured that all passengers wear them. Especially when the river water level is rising or the weather is bad, adherence to safety measures becomes even more crucial. But at Ujiyar Ganga Ghat, these rules are being flouted.

Local residents and passengers have raised this issue multiple times, but no concrete action has been taken so far. The administration should immediately address this serious matter and take strict action against boat operators who are violating safety norms.
