A tragic incident has occurred in Chishti village, under the Ganga Bridge police station area of Vaishali district, where Aurangzeb alias Guddu Ji, a 50-year-old lawyer practicing in the Patna City Civil Court, died by suicide in his newly constructed home. Police were informed late Saturday night, and personnel from Ganga Bridge police station arrived to take the body for post-mortem at Sadar Hospital. Due to the late arrival of family members, the post-mortem could not be conducted even after 17 hours, and the body was kept in the mortuary.

The deceased was identified as Aurangzeb alias Guddu Ji (50), son of Mohammad Mumtaz, a resident of Chishti village. Approximately four years ago, he had purchased land in Chishti, Hajipur, and built his house at a cost of around ₹20 lakhs.

According to his friends, the area, situated near the Ganga river, faces annual flooding, but usually, the water recedes within a few days. This year, however, the situation was severe, with knee-deep water remaining in the house for months. This led to damp walls, ruined belongings, and significant living difficulties. The lawyer became mentally distressed due to the continuous waterlogging and the deteriorating condition of his home. His family stated that he had been suffering from depression for several months and was undergoing treatment. Depression medication was found in his room at the scene. It is suspected that this distress led him to take such an extreme step.

Aurangzeb reportedly used a bedsheet to hang himself from the ceiling fan in his room. No one else was present at home at the time. Neighbors grew suspicious when the door remained unopened for a long time and then informed the police. Ganga Bridge SHO Deepak Kumar stated that it appears to be a case of suicide. A forensic team collected significant evidence from the scene. Further action will be taken after recording statements from the family. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report.
