In a shocking incident in Satmalpur village, Warisnagar police station area, Samastipur district, a group of women, young girls, and children returning from deity worship during a wedding ceremony were attacked with sticks and lathis on Friday evening. More than half a dozen women and others were injured, with two young women reportedly in serious condition. They have been referred to Sadar Hospital Samastipur for better treatment.

The incident occurred during the wedding ceremony of Ram Kumar Ram's daughter, a resident of Satmalpur Moin. As part of traditional wedding rituals, family members, relatives, local women, and children had gone to perform Kali Brahma Puja. They first worshipped at the Brahma Sthan and then proceeded to Kali Sthan at Satmalpur Dhab with DJ sound for the ritualistic prayers.

After the puja, as the group was returning towards the Shiva Temple at Azad Chowk, they were stopped near Shekhtoli by dozens of youths. It is alleged that the youths pressured them to stop the music and return via the embankment road. According to eyewitnesses, the people participating in the puja asserted that the road was public and they would use it. This led to an escalation of the dispute, and the accused youths then attacked the women, young girls, and children with sticks and lathis.

The sudden assault caused chaos and panic, with people fleeing to save their lives. Among the seriously injured are Ankita Kumari (15), daughter of Ranjit Ram, and Kranti Kumari (16), daughter of Dinesh Ram, both residents of Ward No. 12. They were initially taken to a private clinic and then referred to Sadar Hospital Samastipur due to their critical condition.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a Dial-112 team reached the spot. Shortly after, Station House Officer Sarvesh Kumar Jha arrived with police forces and initiated an investigation. The aggrieved party has filed a written complaint at the police station on Friday night, demanding strict legal action against the culprits. SHO Sarvesh Kumar Jha stated that a case has been registered, and action will be taken against the guilty after investigation.
