A tragic incident occurred on Sunday near Mushadi village in Chiksaura police station area of Nalanda district, where a 12-year-old boy, Prince Kumar, drowned in the Lokain River. Prince had gone to the river with his friends for a bath when he ventured into deep water and began to drown.

His mother, who was present nearby, immediately jumped into the river to save her son upon seeing him struggling. However, due to the deep water, she herself started to drown. Onlookers quickly came to her rescue and pulled her out of the river to safety. Following this, with the help of local residents, Prince was also retrieved from the river.

Prince was immediately rushed to the Sub-Divisional Hospital, Hilsa, but doctors declared him brought dead after examination. Upon receiving information about the incident, Chiksaura police station personnel arrived at the hospital and took custody of the body. The police have sent the body to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination and are investigating the matter further. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village.
