Patna, July 2, 2026: The body of 15-year-old student Raman, who went missing after drowning in the Ganga River during Jyeshtha Purnima, has been recovered after 24 hours. The tragic incident occurred in the Maner police station area of Patna district, where Raman had gone for a holy dip with his family.

According to reports, Raman was bathing with his family on the auspicious occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima. During the bath, he ventured into deeper waters and was swept away by the strong currents of the Ganga. His family members made desperate attempts to save him but were unsuccessful. The incident caused immediate distress among the family, and a crowd of local residents gathered at the ghat.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team arrived at the scene. SDRF personnel immediately launched a rescue operation, but Raman could not be traced until late evening. After an overnight search, Raman's body was recovered from the Ganga River this morning. The family is in deep mourning following the recovery of his body.

The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. This incident once again raises questions about safety measures at Ganga ghats and the need for stricter controls to prevent people from entering deep waters. There is a clear need for the administration to exercise special vigilance and deploy sufficient security personnel on such religious occasions to prevent similar tragic incidents.
