In a significant operation conducted by the Banka Excise Department, over 2,824 liters of illicit foreign liquor were seized at the Bhaljore inter-state check post on the Bihar-Jharkhand border. The action was taken in view of the Shravani Mela. A truck laden with the liquor was also impounded, and its driver was arrested.

The special inspection drive was carried out under the direction of District Magistrate Anshul Aggarwal and led by Excise Superintendent Ravindra Kumar Singh. On Friday, a suspicious truck (number PB10KH3059) arriving from Jharkhand was stopped at the Bhaljore check post. A thorough search of the truck revealed a large quantity of foreign liquor hidden beneath sacks of kurkure.

A total of 6,568 bottles were recovered, amounting to 2,824.20 liters. The seized liquor is of the Classic Old Habbit Whisky brand. It includes 960 bottles of 750 ml (720 liters), 3,768 bottles of 375 ml (1,413 liters), and 3,840 bottles of 180 ml (691.20 liters). The liquor was concealed in a manner intended to evade detection during routine checks.

The truck driver, Shankar Yadav (26), son of Digambar Yadav, a resident of Jamtara, Jharkhand, was arrested on the spot. The Excise Department has also seized the truck. Preliminary interrogation is underway to ascertain the source of the liquor consignment and its intended destination in Bihar. Investigations into the involvement of other individuals in this smuggling case are ongoing.
