The illicit trade of liquor continues in Bihar despite the state's prohibition law. In a recent incident, police in Madhepura district seized 30 liters of illicit country-made liquor at Bangama Chowk. Acting on a tip-off, authorities intercepted a liquor smuggler transporting the contraband on a motorcycle. Upon spotting the police, the smuggler abandoned the bike and managed to flee the scene, escaping into the darkness. However, the police successfully impounded the motorcycle.

According to police sources, during routine patrolling or following information from an informant, a police team attempted to stop a suspicious motorcyclist at Bangama Chowk. Seeing the police approach, the smuggler panicked, left his motorcycle, and fled under the cover of darkness. A search of the abandoned motorcycle revealed a sack containing 30 liters of country-made liquor, which was immediately confiscated.

Following the incident, the police have initiated an investigation to identify the owner of the seized motorcycle and the absconding smuggler. Efforts are underway to trace the smuggler based on the motorcycle's license plate. Police officials stated that the smuggler would be apprehended soon. Despite the complete prohibition in Bihar, the illegal sale and smuggling of liquor remain a significant challenge, particularly in border areas and rural regions. The police and excise department are continuously working to curb such activities, but smugglers often devise new methods to evade the law. This seizure highlights the ongoing need for vigilance and action against liquor smugglers.
