A 308-wheeled 'Bahubali' truck, transporting a massive 200-ton vacuum boiler from Odisha's Paradip port to the Balrampur Chini Mill in Uttar Pradesh, has become a viral sensation. The industrial vacuum boiler, approximately 100 feet long and 7 meters wide, arrived in Paradip from Belgium by sea. It is destined for the Kumbhi unit of Balrampur Chini Mill, where an ethanol plant is under construction. This plant is set to be India's first bioplastic (polylactic acid) manufacturing facility, producing ethanol from sugarcane and then bioplastic from ethanol.

Due to its immense size and indivisible nature, the boiler cannot be transported by train or ship, making road transport the only viable option. To distribute the 200-ton load evenly and prevent damage to roads and bridges, a multi-axle modular hydraulic trailer with 308 wheels is being used. This design ensures that the pressure on each wheel is minimized. A hydraulic suspension system maintains load balance, adhering to Indian government regulations that limit the weight on each axle row to 18 tons.

This convoy is a testament to engineering prowess, involving over 64 engineers and staff, two cranes, and two trailers that alternately pull the main trailer. The truck covers only 10 to 20 kilometers per day. So far, over 2 crore rupees have been spent on diesel, with the total operation cost estimated between 15 to 20 crore rupees. Along the route, electricity lines have been temporarily removed, and sections of foot overbridges have been cut. In Varanasi, parts of two foot overbridges on NH-19 and a structure near the Swarved Temple will be dismantled and rebuilt after the truck passes.

This approximately 1,400-kilometer journey from Paradip Port to Lakhimpur Kheri is expected to take months. The truck has already passed through Jharkhand and Bihar, reaching Uttar Pradesh, and is now moving from Varanasi via Ghazipur towards Balrampur. It exemplifies India's heavy-haulage engineering capabilities, managed by companies like JM Bakshi Group. Spectators along the route are gathering to witness the colossal truck, taking selfies and making videos, further amplifying its social media presence. The fact that this machinery, which departed Belgium in April, has yet to reach its destination underscores the complexity of this extraordinary journey.
