In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning in Samastipur, an 8-year-old girl on her way to an exam was crushed to death by a sand-laden truck. The accident occurred around 8 AM near the DAV School turn on the Samastipur-Musrigharari road. The girl was riding a scooter with her father when she reportedly fell off due to drowsiness and was run over by the truck approaching from behind.

The deceased has been identified as Shreya Kumari, an 8-year-old daughter of Ashutosh Ranjan, a resident of Mohali village in the Sarairanjan police station area. Shreya was a second-grade student, and her school examination was scheduled to begin an hour after the accident. The condition of her body was so severe that it had to be collected in plastic and taken to Sadar Hospital.

According to Shreya's uncle, Rajneesh Ranjan, the family had attended a religious program in their village on Monday night for Ganesh Chaturthi, staying up late. Due to an early return, Shreya had not had enough sleep. Despite her parents' initial reluctance to take her to the village due to the exam, Shreya insisted. On Tuesday morning, she asked her father to drop her off at school. It was during this journey that she fell from the moving scooter near the DAV School turn due to sleepiness.

Local residents helped apprehend the truck after the accident. Police from Musrigharari police station arrived at the scene, prepared a 'panchnama' (inquest report), and sent the body for post-mortem to Sadar Hospital. Station House Officer Rakesh Kumar stated that the process of filing an FIR is underway, and the truck has been seized. The Samastipur-Musrigharari road experienced a brief traffic jam following the incident.
