The Block Development Officer (BDO) conducted a surprise inspection of the Amarpur Referral Hospital in Banka district on Tuesday. During the inspection, the BDO expressed strong displeasure over the prevailing uncleanliness and dilapidated condition of the hospital building. He issued strict directives to the hospital administration to immediately improve sanitation and undertake necessary repairs to the building.

The BDO surveyed various wards, the medicine distribution center, and washrooms. He observed significant accumulation of dirt and extremely poor conditions in the toilets. Patients and their relatives also complained to the BDO about the lack of cleanliness and facilities. Taking serious note of the negligence, the BDO reprimanded the hospital manager and other concerned staff.

The BDO instructed that regular cleaning of the hospital premises must be ensured and proper disposal of waste should be implemented. He also directed that a proposal for the repair of the dilapidated building be immediately prepared and sent to higher authorities to provide a safe and clean environment for patients and staff. The BDO warned that if improvements were not seen in the next inspection, strict action would be taken against the concerned officials and employees. The medical in-charge was also directed to make all possible efforts to provide better healthcare facilities to patients. This surprise inspection caused a stir among the hospital administration, who assured immediate commencement of improvement work.
