Residents of Araria city are facing severe problems due to open garbage dumping near Boari Bad on the ABC Canal Road. The municipal council's garbage vehicles and private hospitals are accused of disposing of waste at this location. Locals allege that garbage collected from various parts of the municipal area is dumped here, and medical waste from private hospitals is also being discarded under the cover of night.

The putrid smell emanating from the rotting garbage forces commuters to cover their noses while passing by. Residents like Gopal Krishna, Mayananand Sah, and Jayanti Devi stated that despite their homes being about 500 meters from the dumping site, the stench and smoke from fires set in the garbage reach their houses. This leads to suffocation and respiratory issues among the populace.

Ward No. 7 Councilor Shyam Kumar Mandal and Ward No. 8 Councilor Representative Rajesh Paswan from Om Nagar reported that multiple complaints have been lodged with the municipal council regarding this issue. Following these complaints, garbage dumping ceased for a brief period, but it has resumed for approximately the past month. Local residents further allege that the dumped garbage is frequently set on fire, and the resulting smoke and odor severely pollute the surrounding environment, causing serious health problems.
