Araria: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Bihar's Araria district has taken significant action against corruption, arresting Anil Kumar Mandal, the General Manager of the Industry Department. Mandal was apprehended while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The arrest took place during a raid at his rented residence, where the bribe money was recovered from an almirah.

According to the complainant, Mohammad Kamre Alam, he had supplied machinery worth approximately ₹17 lakh to citizens for industrial purposes on behalf of the Industry Department. In exchange for these machine supplies, GM Anil Kumar Mandal was allegedly demanding a 5% commission, amounting to ₹85,000.

Kamre Alam lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Patna. Following the complaint, Bureau officials conducted an investigation and verification, confirming the veracity of the bribe demand. Subsequently, FIR No. 95/26 was registered at the Vigilance Police Station on August 7, 2026.

After the FIR was filed, a Vigilance Investigation Bureau team, led by DSP Satish Chandra Mahadev, raided Anil Kumar Mandal's rented house. During the raid, ₹50,000 in bribe money was found in an almirah next to the GM's bedroom. Mandal was arrested immediately after the recovery. DSP Satish Chandra Madhav stated that further legal proceedings are underway, and the team is investigating other aspects related to the case.
