A comprehensive awareness campaign is underway in Araria district for the creation of a drug-free society. Under the directives of District Magistrate Vinod Duhaan, special activities were organized in rural areas during the second week of the 'Drug-Free Bihar' campaign, centered on the theme 'Village's Resolve'. A total of 8 cluster federations (CLFs), including 7 in Araria block and 1 in Bhargama block, hosted awareness programs.
Participants in these programs included Jeevika Didis, Jeevika officials and staff, sisters from Prajapati Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya Araria, and representatives from the Prohibition Department. The Brahmakumari sisters provided detailed information on the severe consequences of drug addiction, including its social and familial harms. They highlighted the benefits of a drug-free life and emphasized the crucial role of women in keeping their families and communities away from substance abuse.
During the campaign, Jeevika Didis conducted 'Prabhat Pheris' (morning processions) in rural areas, spreading the message of de-addiction to the masses. They emotionally appealed to people to quit drugs themselves and inspire others to do the same. Furthermore, a special awareness program was held at the office of Deep Jeevika Mahila Vikas Swavalambi Sahakari Samiti Limited, Araria. Approximately 100 Jeevika Didis, along with personnel from the Excise Department and Jeevika, participated, sharing information on the importance of de-addiction and its positive societal impacts. This campaign marks a significant step towards achieving the goal of a drug-free Bihar.
