ARRAH, November 1. A case of large-scale illegal extortion by police personnel from trucks and other vehicles under the guise of 'no-entry' has emerged at the Khaira Bazar checkpost within the Sahar police station area of Arrah district. A video evidence of this illegal collection has also surfaced, prompting demands for strict action against those responsible.

According to allegations, police personnel at the Khaira checkpost are regularly extorting money from truck drivers every night. It is alleged that this practice has been ongoing for approximately a year with the connivance of the Station House Officer (SHO). Trucks are reportedly stopped throughout the night at the checkpost, and illegal payments ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 are demanded under the pretext of 'no-entry'. Drivers who refuse to pay are allegedly threatened with challans, vehicle seizures, and detention at the police station.

The viral video clearly shows police personnel engaging in this illegal collection. The names of Mahendra (PTC), Constable Amit Kumar (DAP), and Mrityunjay have been identified as police personnel allegedly involved in the extortion.

In response to these allegations, Ajay Kumar, State Vice President and District President of the Bihar Truck Owners Association, has lodged a written complaint via email with SP Avdhesh Dixit. He has urged the SP to conduct a confidential investigation into the CCTV footage from the checkpost, mobile locations/call detail reports of the concerned police personnel, and the video evidence. Furthermore, he has demanded strict departmental and legal action against all involved police personnel, including the SHO, to restore the tarnished image of the police force.

SP Avdhesh Dixit stated that the complaint has been received and a high-level investigation will be conducted, followed by stern action. Attempts to contact the SHO for his comments on the allegations against him were unsuccessful.
