अरवल जिले के कुर्था थाना क्षेत्र में एसएच-69 कुर्था-किंजर मार्ग पर ढोंढरा मोड़ के पास गुरुवार शाम दो नकाबपोश बाइक सवार अपराधियों ने एक स्वर्ण व्यवसायी मनोज स्वर्णकार की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी। इस वारदात में उनके साथ रहे एक श्रृंगार दुकानदार राधा कृष्ण मिश्र भी आंशिक रूप से जख्मी हो गए।
मनोज स्वर्णकार मूल रूप से अरवल सदर थाना क्षेत्र के बैदराबाद गांव के निवासी थे और वर्तमान में कुर्था बाजार में रहते थे। उनकी मोतेपुर बाजार में सोने-चांदी की दुकान थी, जो उनके घर से लगभग 4 किलोमीटर दूर है। घटना के समय, मनोज और राधा कृष्ण मिश्र मोतेपुर बाजार से अपनी दुकानें बंद कर एक ऑटो से घर लौट रहे थे। ढोंढरा मोड़ के पास शाम करीब 5 बजे, बाइक सवार अपराधियों ने मनोज स्वर्णकार की कनपट्टी पर पिस्तौल सटाकर ताबड़तोड़ गोलियां चला दीं। मनोज को सिर और सीने में करीब तीन गोलियां लगीं, जिससे उनकी मौके पर ही मौत हो गई। राधा कृष्ण मिश्र को गोली के छर्रे लगने से पैर और कंधे पर चोट आई है, लेकिन वे अब खतरे से बाहर हैं। ऑटो में बैठी एक महिला बाल-बाल बच गई।
सूचना मिलने पर डायल 112 की पुलिस मौके पर पहुंची और घायलों को कुर्था पीएचसी ले गई, जहां से मनोज को अरवल सदर अस्पताल रेफर किया गया। वहां चिकित्सकों ने उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया। अपराधी घटना को अंजाम देने के बाद किंजर की तरफ भाग निकले।
मृतक के परिजनों ने बताया कि मनोज स्वर्णकार पर पूर्व में भी तीन बार जानलेवा हमला हुआ था। पहली बार उनकी बाइक छीन ली गई थी, और अन्य दो बार भी उसी स्थान पर हमला हुआ था, जिसमें वे किसी तरह अपनी जान बचा पाए थे। इन सभी हमलों के संबंध में कुर्था थाने में अज्ञात हमलावरों के खिलाफ प्राथमिकी दर्ज कराई गई थी, लेकिन पुलिस हमलावरों की पहचान करने में विफल रही, जिसका परिणाम इस बार उनकी हत्या के रूप में सामने आया। इस हत्याकांड के विरोध में भाकपा माले ने शुक्रवार को बाजार बंद का आह्वान किया है।

Manoj Swarnkar, originally from Baidrabad village under Arwal Sadar police station, resided in Kurtha Bazar and owned a gold and silver shop in Motepur Bazar. The incident occurred around 5 PM while Manoj and Radha Krishna Mishra were returning home in an auto-rickshaw after closing their shops. Near Dhondhra Mor, the assailants approached, placed a pistol to Manoj's temple, and fired multiple shots. Manoj sustained three bullet wounds to his head and chest, leading to his on-the-spot death. Radha Krishna Mishra suffered pellet injuries to his leg and shoulder but is now out of danger. Another woman in the auto-rickshaw narrowly escaped unharmed.
Upon receiving the information, Dial 112 police arrived and took the victims to Kurtha PHC. Manoj was then referred to Arwal Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The culprits fled towards Kinjar after the crime.
Family members revealed that Manoj Swarnkar had been attacked three times previously. In one incident, his bike was stolen, and on two other occasions, he was assaulted at the same location, narrowly escaping with his life. FIRs were lodged at Kurtha police station against unknown assailants for these previous attacks, but the police failed to identify the culprits, ultimately leading to this fatal outcome. In protest of the murder, CPI (ML) has called for a market bandh (shutdown) on Friday.
