Aurangabad police have busted a major inter-state gang following a surge in chain snatching and snatching incidents in the city. Two members of the inter-state 'Kodha Gang' have been arrested, and police have recovered a pistol, two live cartridges, a master key, and a stolen motorcycle from their possession. Over 70 cases are registered against this gang across various police stations in Bihar, and police are actively raiding suspected locations to dismantle the entire network.

Superintendent of Police Upendranath Verma stated that seven chain snatching incidents had recently occurred in the Nagar police station area. Taking these incidents seriously, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of Sadar SDPO Sushil Kumar. Based on CCTV footage, technical analysis, and intelligence gathering, the SIT concluded that all these incidents were perpetrated by the same gang.

Through the SIT's diligent efforts, two criminals from the 'Kodha Gang' – Nayanshu alias Abhay Kumar and Hairan Kumar, both residents of Naya Tola Jurabganj in Kodha police station area of Katihar district – were identified and apprehended. During interrogation, the arrested criminals confessed to their involvement, admitting to committing chain snatching and snatching incidents in various districts of Bihar, including Aurangabad, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Kishanganj, and Munger, as well as in Jharkhand cities like Godda, Hazaribagh, and Dumka. They also revealed that they frequently changed their hideouts to evade police capture.

The arrested individuals further confessed that they had returned to Aurangabad on Sunday, September 20, with the intention of committing more chain snatching incidents when they were apprehended by the police with weapons and a stolen motorcycle. The SP expressed confidence that these arrests would lead to a reduction in chain snatching incidents in Aurangabad city. Numerous cases are registered against them in various police stations in Aurangabad, including Aurangabad Nagar Police Station Case Nos. 515/26, 525/26, 557/26, 480/26, 485/26, 494/26, and 414/26. Additionally, a total of 70 cases are registered against them in different police stations across Rohtas, Munger, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Bhojpur, and Kishanganj districts. Cases are also registered against them in neighboring states like Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
