The Northern Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) conducted an intensive raid campaign against power theft in the Babubarhi block of Madhubani district. During this operation, two significant cases of electricity theft were uncovered. The consumers involved in these two incidents have been collectively fined ₹67,495, and First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged against them at the local police station.

Junior Engineer (J.E.) Deepak Kumar of NBPDCL stated that this campaign aims to curb power theft and enhance revenue collection. He informed that during the raid, power theft was detected at the premises of Ram Prakash Sah, son of late Ramji Sah, a resident of Babubarhi Bazar. Investigations revealed that Ram Prakash Sah was using electricity by directly hooking into the main line, causing a loss of ₹38,969 to the company. An FIR has been filed against him under Section 135 of the Electricity Act.

Similarly, the second case emerged from the residence of Mohd. Naseem, son of Mohd. Mustafa, a resident of Ward No. 6, Teghra village. Mohd. Naseem was also found stealing electricity by directly hooking into the main line. In this instance, the company incurred a revenue loss of ₹28,526. An FIR has also been lodged against him at the Babubarhi police station under Section 135 of the Electricity Act.

J.E. Deepak Kumar clarified that this campaign to prevent power theft will continue relentlessly. He appealed to consumers to use electricity legally and refrain from power theft, warning that those caught would face legal action and hefty fines. NBPDCL aims to completely eliminate power theft in the region and ensure regular and legal electricity supply to all consumers.
