A startling revelation emerged during an unannounced inspection by a Joint Secretary of the Education Department at Upgraded Middle School, Babubarhi, located in the Babubarhi block of Madhubani district. Out of a total enrollment of 863 students, only one student was found to be present, raising serious questions about the state of education.

Kumar Ramanuj, Joint Secretary, Education Department, Bihar, conducted inspections of various schools in the Babubarhi block on Friday. During his visit to Upgraded Middle School, Babubarhi, he was shocked upon checking the attendance register and comparing it with the actual student count. With 863 enrolled students, only one was present at the time of inspection. This situation clearly highlights the indifference of teachers towards the Education Department's directives and the children's studies.

The Joint Secretary also scrutinized the attendance and working methods of the teachers. He reportedly expressed deep dissatisfaction over this severe irregularity and instructed the school administration and concerned teachers to provide an explanation and take necessary action. This incident has reignited the debate surrounding low student attendance and the quality of education in government schools. Parents and locals have also expressed concern, demanding concrete steps from the Education Department to secure the future of the children.
