In a significant move on Thursday, the administration in Ballia block premises, Begusarai district, took strict action against long-standing illegal encroachments. A joint team comprising the Nagar Parishad, block administration, and police force used bulldozers to clear illegal kiosks and shops.

Block Development Officer Santosh Kumar stated that the action was initiated based on a complaint received through the Sahyog RTPS portal. Avinash Kumar, a resident of Chhoti Ballia, had lodged a complaint alleging that illegal kiosks operating within the block premises were extorting money from people in the name of caste, income, residential, and other certificates.

Following the complaint, the block and circle administration had jointly issued notices to the encroachers, instructing them to remove the encroachments voluntarily. However, these orders were disregarded, and the shops continued to operate, with no signs of removal. Consequently, the administration adopted a firm stance and, in the presence of police forces, demolished all illegal kiosks with bulldozers, making the premises encroachment-free. BDO Santosh Kumar clarified that no form of illegal occupation in government premises would be tolerated, emphasizing that such actions would continue in the future to maintain order and transparency in government functions.
