In Chitrasen village, under the Jilebimor police station area of Belhar block in Banka district, a 35-year-old woman died by suicide by hanging herself on Sunday evening. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village. The deceased has been identified as Savita Devi, a resident of Chitrasen village.

According to family members and villagers, a minor argument had broken out between Savita Devi and her husband, Ghanshyam Das, over covering the roof with plastic. Following the dispute, Savita Devi left home and went towards the Hanumana Dam. However, her husband and villagers convinced her to return home safely.

It is reported that in the evening, while her husband had gone towards the river, Savita Devi used her dupatta to hang herself from a wooden beam inside the house. A short while later, her 14-year-old daughter, Sunaina Kumari, discovered her mother hanging and raised an alarm. Subsequently, her husband and villagers broke down the door, brought her down, and immediately rushed her to the Belhar Community Health Center, where doctors declared her dead after examination.

The incident has left Savita Devi's husband, Ghanshyam Das, and daughter, Sunaina Kumari, along with the entire family, in a state of profound grief. The village is also engulfed in sorrow and despair. Jilebimor Police Station SHO Raju Kumar Thakur stated that the police have taken the body into custody and sent it to Banka Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. All aspects of the case are being investigated, and necessary legal action is being taken.
