An 18-year-old youth, Vishnu Laiya, a resident of Bhurna village under Barahat police station in Banka, died during treatment at Banka Sadar Hospital. His family has leveled serious allegations against a contractor from Bengaluru, claiming that Vishnu was lured with promises of better employment and higher earnings, but was forced to work despite being ill and denied timely medical treatment.

Vishnu Laiya, son of Bablu Laiya, was married about a year ago and had a seven-month-old son. According to his family, approximately two months ago, a contractor named Kundan Yadav, from Goddajor Baithabandh under Jamdaha police station, took Vishnu and his uncle Madan Laiya to Bengaluru. There, they were made to do labor and cleaning work.

Initially, everything was normal for about a month, but then Vishnu's health deteriorated. The family alleges that despite informing the contractor about his illness multiple times, he neither provided proper treatment nor granted leave from work. They were only given medicines from a medical shop and continuously pressured to work. Vishnu's father, Bablu Laiya, stated that contact with his son was completely lost later, and the contractor blocked his mobile number.

Vishnu's uncle, Madan Laiya, recounted that when Vishnu's condition worsened significantly, he demanded that the contractor send him home. However, the contractor merely provided medicine and continued to make him work, later arranging treatment from a quack doctor. Madan said that Vishnu had been unable to speak properly for the last 15 days, yet he was not allowed to return home. When he protested, the contractor would abuse him and refuse to provide rations or expenses, saying, "If you don't work, how will I feed you?"

Finally, Madan Laiya managed to rescue Vishnu from the contractor's clutches and started for home. On Monday, they reached Jasidih station and were brought directly to Banka Sadar Hospital. However, due to his extremely critical condition, Vishnu passed away during treatment on Monday night.

Following the youth's death, his family was inconsolable at the Sadar Hospital. The incident has been reported to the police, who have initiated an investigation. The family is demanding strict legal action against contractor Kundan Yadav and a fair inquiry into the entire matter. Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kumar Mahto, posted at Sadar Hospital Banka, confirmed that the deceased's father's application has been received, and the family took the body home.
