Health workers in Barhara block of Bhojpur district, under the banner of the Bihar Medical and Public Health Employees Union, staged a protest to highlight their pending demands. They urged the health department for a swift resolution to issues affecting health services. The protesting workers emphasized the need for essential facilities to maintain smooth health services in rural areas.

They stated that ANMs and other health workers play a crucial role in rural areas and thus require necessary resources, basic amenities, and clear work arrangements at their workplaces. This would ensure regular access to health services for the rural population. The employees also demanded the prompt resolution of other outstanding issues related to the health department, arguing that unresolved problems adversely affect the delivery of health services. They appealed to the department to seriously consider their legitimate demands and resolve them in a time-bound manner.

The protest saw the participation of a large number of female health workers and other staff, including Arun Kumar Singh, Block Secretary of the Bihar Medical and Public Health Employees Union; Dhananjay Kumar, Block Vice President; Arun Kumar Pandey, Struggle Secretary; and Kamlesh Kumar Singh, Block Treasurer. Block Secretary Arun Kumar Singh informed that a demand letter had been submitted to the In-charge Medical Officer, following a decision by the state executive. He affirmed that the union would continue to advocate for the legitimate demands of health workers and for ensuring better and smoother health services in rural areas. The employees expressed hope that the department would take positive steps to address their demands soon.
