A tragic boat accident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Ganga River within the Bachhwara police station area of Begusarai district. A boat carrying approximately 30-35 people capsized near Chamtha Rajauli village, under Chamtha-1 Panchayat. Two individuals are reported missing, and four others have sustained injuries in the incident.

The villagers had gone to plant pointed gourd (parwal) in a 'dhab' (low-lying area) about three kilometers across the Ganga River. After finishing their work, they were returning by boat in the evening. It is believed that the boat overturned due to overcrowding. Following the capsizing, many passengers managed to swim to safety, but two people remain untraced.

Among the injured are Poonam Kumari, a 15-year-old daughter of Udgar Mahto, and Chandan Kumar, a 16-year-old son of Visho Mahto, both residents of Chamtha Rajauli village. Two of the injured have been admitted to the Community Health Center in Bachhwara, while the other two are receiving treatment at a private hospital. Injured Chandan Kumar and his grandfather Bhola Mahto provided details of the incident.

Upon receiving information about the accident, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Krishna Kumar, Circle Officer Pritam Gautam, and Bachhwara Station House Officer, along with police forces, reached the scene. Officials immediately launched a rescue operation. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Krishna Kumar stated that an intensive search operation is underway to find the missing individuals as quickly as possible. Local residents and the administration are collaboratively working to safely rescue the missing people.
