The mortal remains of Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Manish Kumar Singh, a native of Ratanpur, Begusarai, arrived at his home on Friday morning. Singh, who was posted in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, passed away on the morning of September 2nd during treatment. A large number of local residents, public representatives, and administrative officials gathered at his home to pay their respects.

Manish Kumar Singh joined the BSF in 2004. He had also participated in 'Operation Sindoor', where he sustained a bullet injury to his waist. After treatment, he returned to duty. On August 27th, he was admitted to a military hospital with complaints of high fever and body pain. His condition worsened, and he was put on a ventilator on August 28th. Although his condition improved temporarily, it deteriorated again on August 30th, leading to his demise on September 2nd due due to a stomach infection. Doctors reported that the infection spread, causing his death.

Before the final journey, as per tradition, basil leaves and holy Ganges water were placed in his mouth. His mortal remains were then taken 17 kilometers away to Simaria Ganga Ghat for cremation. The body was carried on foot for about 3 kilometers from his home. During this procession, family members and villagers chanted 'Manish Kumar Singh Amar Rahe' (Long Live Manish Kumar Singh). His sister led the procession, holding the national flag and shouting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Manish Tera Naam Amar Rahega'. She also shouldered her brother's bier. BSF jawans accorded him full military honours at Simaria Ghat.

Manish's father, Balmiki Singh, was also an army jawan who passed away about five years ago. Manish's dream was to see his two daughters become officers. His wife, Sunita, shared that he used to tell their elder daughter, Sonakshi, stories of military duty and patriotism. Ashish Gautam, son of Manish's elder brother Krishna Gautam, performed the last rites at Simaria Ghat.
