A police team in Begusarai district was attacked while attempting to arrest a warranted accused, Rohit Kumar alias Bucchi, in Sakrauli village, under Cheria Bariarpur police station. The incident occurred last night when Cheria Bariarpur police received information that Rohit, an absconding accused in a criminal case from Khodawandpur police station area, was at his home. As the police team apprehended Rohit from his house and seated him in the official vehicle, his family members and local residents became agitated.

Within moments, dozens of people, armed with sticks and bamboo poles, surrounded the police vehicle. They encircled the police car and attempted to free the accused. During the confrontation, police personnel were shoved, and the police vehicle was vandalized. A video of the incident has also emerged, showing the crowd arguing with the police in the dark of night and attempting to open the vehicle door to pull out the accused.

However, the police officers and personnel present at the scene acted judiciously. They pushed back the villagers and managed to safely extract the vehicle from the crowd, taking Rohit alias Bucchi directly to Cheria Bariarpur police station. The police have initiated intensive questioning of Rohit regarding his old case and recent abscondence.

Headquarters DSP Nikhil Kumar stated that a warrant and proclamation had been issued by the court against Rohit Mahto, a resident of Sakrauli village. An FIR has been registered at Cheria Bariarpur police station against five named individuals and other unknown attackers for assaulting the police team, damaging government property, and obstructing official duties. Police have promptly arrested the five named accused, and further action is underway.
