Several villages in Begusarai Sadar block have been grappling with a severe power outage for the past 20 hours. The disruption was caused by a massive banyan tree falling onto a 33,000-volt high-tension power line. This incident has severely affected electricity supply, plunging local residents into discomfort amidst the intense heat and humidity.

According to electricity department officials, the old and large banyan tree collapsed onto the power lines due to strong winds or other factors. The fall not only snapped the wires but also damaged several poles, making restoration work complex and time-consuming. Department teams are on-site, working on a war footing, but the sheer size of the tree and the extent of equipment damage are prolonging the power restoration efforts.

Residents in the affected villages are also facing water shortages, as most households rely on motor pumps for water supply, which are dependent on electricity. Furthermore, mobile charging and other daily activities have been disrupted. Local residents have appealed to the electricity department to restore power as soon as possible to alleviate their difficulties. The department has assured that they are striving to normalize electricity supply at the earliest.
