पटना जिले के बेलछी प्रखंड स्थित दो वार्डों में इन दिनों भीषण पेयजल संकट गहरा गया है। वार्ड नंबर-12 और 13 के ग्रामीण शुद्ध पेयजल के लिए तरस रहे हैं। स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि नल-जल योजना के तहत लगाए गए नल खराब पड़े हैं और उनसे पानी नहीं आता। इसके चलते इन वार्डों के हजारों लोग बूंद-बूंद पानी के लिए मोहताज हैं।
ग्रामीणों ने बताया कि कई बार जन प्रतिनिधियों और संबंधित अधिकारियों से शिकायत की गई है, लेकिन समस्या का समाधान नहीं हो पाया है। गर्मी के मौसम में यह समस्या और भी विकराल रूप ले लेती है, जब भूजल स्तर भी नीचे चला जाता है। महिलाओं को दूर-दराज के इलाकों से पानी ढोकर लाना पड़ रहा है, जिससे उनकी दिनचर्या पर बुरा असर पड़ रहा है।
स्थानीय निवासी रामसेवक महतो ने बताया कि नल-जल योजना के तहत पाइप तो बिछा दिए गए, लेकिन पानी की आपूर्ति कभी नियमित नहीं हुई। अब तो नल पूरी तरह से सूखे पड़े हैं। वहीं, एक अन्य ग्रामीण सीता देवी ने कहा कि पीने के पानी के लिए उन्हें घंटों हैंडपंप पर इंतजार करना पड़ता है, और कई बार तो वह भी खराब रहता है।
इस गंभीर समस्या के कारण ग्रामीण बीमार पड़ने लगे हैं, क्योंकि उन्हें मजबूरी में दूषित पानी का इस्तेमाल करना पड़ रहा है। बेलछी प्रखंड प्रशासन और पीएचईडी विभाग से ग्रामीणों ने जल्द से जल्द इस समस्या का समाधान करने और इन वार्डों में निर्बाध पेयजल आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित करने की मांग की है। यदि जल्द ही इस पर ध्यान नहीं दिया गया, तो ग्रामीणों ने आंदोलन की चेतावनी दी है।

The problem intensifies during the summer months when the groundwater level drops significantly. Women are forced to travel long distances to fetch water, disrupting their daily routines and causing immense hardship.
Residents like Ramsewak Mahto state that while pipes were laid under the scheme, water supply was never consistent, and now the taps are completely dry. Another resident, Sita Devi, highlighted the long queues at handpumps, which are often out of order. The lack of clean water is leading to health issues as people are compelled to use contaminated sources. Villagers are urging the Belchhi block administration and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to address the issue promptly and ensure uninterrupted water supply, threatening agitation if their demands are not met.
