A new bridge project on the Benipatti-Umgaon main road in Madhubani district has received administrative approval. The Road Construction Department had prepared an estimated cost of Rs 11 crore for this much-needed project and submitted it for administrative sanction, which has now been granted. This development will significantly improve connectivity between Benipatti and Umgaon, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the local residents.

The new bridge will be constructed over the Dhouns River in Benipatti block. The existing old bridge is in a dilapidated and dangerous condition, posing a significant risk to commuters, especially during the monsoon season. The new structure promises enhanced safety, reduced travel time, and easier freight movement.

Local representatives and villagers have been advocating for this bridge for a considerable period, citing the precarious state of the old bridge and the potential for accidents. With administrative approval now secured, expectations are high for the swift initiation of the tender process and commencement of construction work.

This project is anticipated to accelerate the economic and social development of the region. Improved connectivity will facilitate the transport of agricultural produce to markets, benefiting farmers, and will also boost trade and commerce in the surrounding areas. Officials from the Road Construction Department stated that following approval, the next phase of action, including technical evaluations and tender issuance, will begin.
