Benipur (Deoghar): The strike by sanitation workers of the Nagar Parishad continued for the second consecutive day on Friday, following a joint call from the Bihar Local Body Employees Federation and the Bihar State Local Body Employees Mahasangh. As a result, cleaning operations have come to a complete halt across all 29 wards of the Nagar Parishad.

Sweeping of roads has stopped, leading to accumulation of garbage heaps in various key areas, including the main market, vegetable market, and around Ashapur Tower. The foul smell emanating from these garbage piles is causing significant inconvenience to residents and commuters.

Marshall Ram, President of the Benipur Sanitation Workers' Union, stated that the sanitation workers are on an indefinite strike in support of various long-pending demands, as per the call from the state-level employee union. He emphasized that the strike will continue until the government takes a positive decision on their demands, which is severely impacting the town's cleanliness.

In response, Sanitation Officer Indrajit Pal acknowledged that cleaning work has been disrupted due to the strike. He added that efforts are being made to streamline sanitation services through alternative arrangements to minimize public inconvenience.
