The agriculture department in Bettiah district has taken a significant action against the black marketing of fertilizers. Following a complaint from a farmer, the license of a fertilizer and seed retailer has been suspended. This move is a crucial step towards ensuring farmers receive fertilizers at fair prices and curbing illegal profiteering.

According to agriculture department officials, continuous monitoring is underway to ensure the availability of fertilizers in the district and their sale at prescribed prices. In this context, a farmer had lodged a complaint stating that a retailer was selling fertilizers at inflated prices and not providing bills. Taking the complaint seriously, the agriculture department immediately ordered an investigation.

The investigation confirmed the complaint and found that the retailer was violating the prescribed rules. Consequently, the license of the concerned fertilizer and seed retailer has been suspended with immediate effect. The department has also clarified that further investigation in this matter is ongoing, and if other irregularities are found, stricter action will be taken.

District Agriculture Officer stated that farmers should immediately report any instance of black marketing or overpricing of fertilizers to the agriculture department. He assured that swift and stringent action would be taken on such complaints. The department has warned all fertilizer and seed retailers to sell fertilizers at prescribed prices and compulsorily provide bills, failing which strict action will be taken against them as well. This step is considered important for providing relief to farmers and bringing transparency to the availability of agricultural inputs.
