A woman died during a sterilization operation at Apna Health Care Center in Lauriya Nagar Panchayat, Bettiah district, causing an uproar. The family members have lodged an FIR at Lauriya Police Station, accusing the hospital management and doctor of gross negligence. Police have registered an FIR against four individuals, including the hospital director, and have launched raids to apprehend them. Relatives allege that the woman's life was lost due to medical negligence. Following the incident, there was a significant commotion at the hospital premises. It is reported that the doctor and some staff members fled the scene when the situation deteriorated. Police have initiated an investigation into the serious matter and are searching for all the accused.

The health department has also become active after this incident. Dr. Roshan Kumar, in-charge of Primary Health Center (PHC) Lauriya, stated that a team is being formed for an impartial investigation into the matter. This team will visit Apna Health Care Center to conduct a detailed examination of all documents related to the operation, the hospital's functioning, and medical standards. The PHC in-charge clarified that based on the investigation report, if negligence or violation of rules is confirmed, departmental and legal action will be taken against the concerned doctor, hospital management, or other guilty individuals. The health department has also stated that there will be no compromise on patient safety, and strict action will be taken against the culprits as per regulations. Both police and health department investigations are ongoing.
