A serious case of illegal extortion has emerged from the Majhaulia Community Health Center (CHC) in West Champaran district, Bettiah. It is alleged that hospital staff extorted between three to four thousand rupees from the family members of a woman brought in for delivery. The incident involved Neha Kumari, wife of Atul Kumar from Panditpur Karamwa village in Majhaulia block, who gave birth to a baby girl at the CHC. The family claims that they were asked for money after the baby's birth and again during vaccination, accumulating to a total of three to four thousand rupees.

Following continuous complaints, a Dainik Bhaskar team conducted a night reality check at three Community Health Centers. At Bairia CHC, security guards were found relaxing while playing Bhojpuri music, and at Nautan CHC, some staff members were found sleeping. However, the most shocking revelations came from Majhaulia CHC around 2:30 AM, where patients and their families made several serious allegations about the hospital's management. A video captured by the camera clearly shows a conversation between a female healthcare worker and a patient's relative regarding money.

The family questioned the difference between government and private hospitals if patients have to pay similarly in government facilities. In response, Hospital In-charge Dr. Anupam Prasad stated that the matter has come to his attention, and an investigation will be launched soon, with strict action taken against those found guilty.
