Residents of Bettiah city, fed up with persistent waterlogging issues, took to the streets on Tuesday to protest. Heavy rainfall has led to widespread inundation in several low-lying areas of the city, disrupting daily life. Villagers allege that the municipal corporation and local administration have completely failed to manage drainage systems.

Protesters reported that their homes and shops have been flooded, causing significant damage. Waterlogged roads have made commuting difficult, posing considerable challenges for children and the elderly. There is also an increased risk of disease outbreaks. Locals claim they have repeatedly appealed to the administration for a solution, but no concrete action has been taken.

During today's protest, agitated villagers blocked a main road, disrupting traffic. They chanted slogans against the administration and demanded immediate improvements to the drainage system. Protesters warned that if the issue is not resolved soon, they would launch a larger agitation, even threatening to gherao (surround) the municipal corporation office if necessary.

Local police and administrative officials arrived at the scene and attempted to appease the protesters. Officials assured the villagers that their demands would be seriously considered, and appropriate steps would be taken promptly. However, villagers stated they would not be satisfied with mere assurances and demanded to see concrete action. Waterlogging remains a serious challenge for Bettiah city, particularly during the monsoon season.
