A woman associated with a Jeevika self-help group in Bhagalpur is accused of absconding with a loan of ₹1.25 lakh from the group. Other women from the Jeevika group filed a complaint at Jagdishpur Police Station on Tuesday, alleging that the accused woman, Rupa Devi, was helped to flee by her husband, Prahlad Mandal. The women have demanded a police investigation into the husband's role.

Based on a written application from Jeevika group member Laxmi Devi, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Laxmi Devi stated that Rupa Devi, wife of Prahlad Mandal from Hardwa village, had been associated with the Saraswati Jeevika Self-Help Group for approximately four years. Group member Vishekha Devi reported that Rupa Devi has not attended group meetings for the past two months and has also failed to repay her loan installments.

The prolonged absence and lack of information about Rupa Devi raised concerns among the group members. They contacted her husband, Prahlad Mandal, who denied any knowledge of Rupa's whereabouts or her loan. The Jeevika members now suspect that Rupa was intentionally made to disappear to avoid repaying the loan, and they believe her husband, Prahlad, is involved.

The group members have urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and locate Rupa Devi. They have also demanded legal action against anyone found to be involved. Jagdishpur Station House Officer Ramchandra Singh confirmed that a case has been registered based on the application, and further action is underway.
