A 40-year-old woman, Seema Devi, was shot dead on Wednesday morning in Agianw village, under the Garhani police station area in Bhojpur district. Seema Devi, who lived in Delhi with her husband Amit Kumar Rai, had returned to her ancestral village in Agianw with her children about five days ago. The incident has sent shockwaves through the village.

According to initial reports, an argument broke out inside the house on Wednesday morning, following which the woman was shot. She sustained a gunshot wound to her abdomen and died on the spot. The deceased's brother-in-law, Sumant Rai, is accused of the murder and has been absconding since the incident.

Upon receiving the information, Sadar SDPO One Sushil Kumar and Garhani Station House Officer Kamaljeet, along with other police personnel, immediately reached the crime scene and began their investigation. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has also been called for evidence collection. Police are treating the incident as a family and property dispute in their preliminary investigation. However, the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be clearly established. Police are actively pursuing the arrest of the accused and further action is underway. More information is expected to emerge after a thorough investigation of the scene and questioning of family members.
